Quickstart

Get from install to watching in 5 minutes. This walks the most common path: an Xtream Codes provider.

Before you start

You need:

  • An Android TV or Google TV device (Shield TV, Chromecast with Google TV, Fire TV, TV-integrated Google TV, etc.)
  • An IPTV provider subscription with Xtream Codes credentials (server URL, username, password) or an M3U playlist URL
  • A few minutes — and optionally your phone for faster typing

Use your phone for setup

At any setup screen with a text field, look for Use Phone Instead. It shows a QR code; scan with your phone and finish the entry there. Way faster than typing on a remote.

Steps

1. Install WyreDeck

Install from Google Play (internal testing link in the tester WhatsApp group) and open the app.

2. Choose a setup mode

Pick Local Install Only. The other options (LAN Backbone, Cloud) are advanced paths we'll document separately.

3. Choose a provider type

  • Xtream Codes — you have a server URL, username, and password (most common)
  • M3U Playlist — you have a single playlist URL

Click one. Note: this is a one-way switch during setup — if you picked wrong, cancel and restart the wizard.

4. Enter your server URL

Paste the URL your provider gave you (e.g. http://your-provider.com:8080). Hit Continue.

HTTPS vs HTTP

Many IPTV providers use self-signed certificates. If you get a Couldn't verify this provider's secure connection error, try switching https:// to http:// in the URL. See Troubleshooting.

5. Enter credentials

Username and password on the next step. Optional provider name is a friendly label (defaults to the server host).

6. Pick what to import + optional TMDB key

  • Toggle Live TV / Movies / Series to what you want (leave all on if unsure)
  • Choose Recommended lineup scope (prioritizes content matching your device locale) or Import Full Catalog if you want everything
  • Optionally paste a TMDB API key to enrich movie/series metadata with posters and descriptions — see TMDB API key

7. Continue — watch the import

You'll see a live checklist:

  • ✓ Live TV (channels)
  • ✓ Movies
  • ✓ Series
  • ⟳ Guide data
  • ⟳ Metadata
  • ⟳ Library

As soon as the content pillars go green, you can tap Done and start browsing. Guide and metadata finish in the background.

8. Start watching

You land on Home. The top nav shows only the content types your provider actually has (Live TV / Movies / Series), plus Search and My Deck.

What's next

  • Add a second provider via Settings → Providers
  • Create additional profiles via the profile menu
  • Tweak language / region filters if content isn't surfacing in your preferred languages
