Quickstart

This path sets up a provider directly on one TV. It is the best starting point for most testers.

Before you start

You need:

  • an Android TV or Google TV device running Android 8.0 or newer;
  • your own IPTV provider subscription or playlist;
  • either Xtream server details or an M3U playlist URL; and
  • a few uninterrupted minutes for the first catalog sync.

An optional TMDB API key adds richer artwork and metadata.

1. Install and open WyreDeck

Install the current private-test build from the tester distribution channel, then open the app.

2. Choose Local Install Only

On Set up WyreDeck, choose Local Install Only. This stores the provider configuration and catalog on the TV.

The Advanced setup options are for an existing WyreDeck LAN Backbone or a managed, cloud-connected setup. Read Setup and data before using either advanced path.

3. Choose the provider shape

  • Xtream Codes: use the server URL, username, and password supplied by the provider.
  • M3U playlist: use the playlist URL supplied by the provider.

Use the exact URL your provider gave you. Do not post it in a support message or screenshot.

4. Enter the provider details

Enter the server or playlist URL, followed by any required username and password. The optional provider name is only a label shown on this TV.

If the URL fails certificate validation, confirm the correct secure URL with the provider. Do not downgrade an https:// URL merely to silence a warning. Use an http:// URL only when the provider explicitly supplies it and you accept that the connection is not encrypted.

5. Choose the content surfaces

Select the surfaces the provider supplies:

  • Live TV
  • Movies
  • Series

You can hide or re-enable a surface later without deleting its locally retained catalog.

6. Add TMDB metadata if wanted

Paste an optional TMDB API key to enrich movies and series. You can skip this step and add a key later. See TMDB API key.

7. Choose the starting catalog

For a first Xtream-capable provider, WyreDeck shows Choose Your Starting Catalog:

  • Recommended starts with a focused catalog based on the detected lineup and your locale preferences.
  • Import Full Catalog imports every category now.

Choose one, then continue. The wider option can take substantially longer for a large provider.

8. Let the first sync reach a usable state

The setup screen reports progress for Live TV, Movies, Series, Guide data, metadata, and library preparation. Browsing can become available before every background enrichment task finishes.

After setup, open Settings > Providers & Sync > Manage providers to add another provider, refresh one, or change the visible content surfaces.
