Free, Premium, and Backbone editions¶
Last updated: 2026-10-27
Free and Premium are account tiers. Standard and Full are Backbone source editions. These are separate dimensions: installing a source edition does not grant an account tier, and pairing an account does not install missing source code.
Premium is planned, not active. Payments are unavailable, no price is published, and the features marked planned below are not a purchase offer or availability promise. Local Free use does not require an account and is not a trial.
Account-tier comparison¶
Client capabilities vary. “Included” describes the approved tier scope, not support on every device or completion of every client implementation.
| Capability | Free account | Premium account |
|---|---|---|
| Use your own lawful providers | Included | Included |
| Provider live TV, guide, movies, series, and playable episodes | Included | Included |
| Ordinary provider synopsis, artwork, and episode/catalog data | Included | Included |
| Anonymous account and device pairing | Service-reported limit | Service-reported limit |
| Device-local profiles and favorites | Included on supported clients | Included on supported clients |
| Local progress retention and recency | Included; does not imply resume | Included |
| Resume from a saved position | Not included | Planned, not active |
| On-device cross-provider duplicate cleanup | Not included | Planned, not active |
| Direct TMDB access with your own key | Planned on supported clients | Planned on supported clients |
| WyreDeck-managed TMDB matching and enriched presentation | Not included | Planned, not active |
| Persisted on-device episode trees | Not included | Planned, not active |
| Shared household profiles through Full Backbone | Not included | Planned, not active |
| LAN favorites, history, and playback-state sync through Full Backbone | Not included | Planned, not available |
| Managed Discovery: Trending and Available to You | Not included | Planned; also requires feature enablement |
| Cloud cross-device personal-state sync | Not included | Not available; detailed scope is undecided |
Ordinary provider episodes remain playable on Free. A planned Premium episode tree does not reclassify ordinary episode browsing or playback. Likewise, provider-supplied descriptions and artwork are not managed TMDB enrichment.
Local progress retention is also different from resume. Free playback starts from the beginning even when a client retains progress for recency or later use.
The approved direct TMDB own-key path is separate from managed enrichment and managed Discovery. It is planned for both tiers on supported clients, with the user's own key taking precedence; it does not install absent Standard Backbone code or unlock managed Discovery.
What the Backbone source editions contain¶
| Capability or boundary | Standard source | Full source |
|---|---|---|
| LAN discovery, local pairing, authorization, and revocation | Included | Included |
| Owner provider management and Xtream sync | Included | Included |
| Live M3U ingestion with optional XMLTV | Included | Included |
| Provider catalog, artwork, ordinary synopsis, episodes, and direct playback resolution | Included | Included |
| Single-profile Backbone content filters | Included | Included |
| Household shared profiles | Physically omitted | Implementation present; planned Premium capability |
| Cross-client favorites, history, resume, and playback-state synchronization | Physically omitted | Implementation present; planned Premium capability |
| Backbone-managed TMDB matching and enriched presentation | Physically omitted | Implementation present; planned Premium capability |
Live M3U with optional XMLTV covers live sources; movies and series use Xtream in this scope. Base catalog operations in either edition are not assigned a new paid tier merely because a related on-device capability is Premium.
Standard has one fixed appliance profile for content-filter preferences. It does not expose retained Full household profiles or adopt them into that profile. Changing an environment setting or linking a Premium account cannot restore implementation that Standard does not contain.
Full's private implementation does not establish commercial availability or an entitlement. Applicable Premium operations still require a valid account grant.
Distribution and payment status¶
Standard is intended as a free public distribution with Premium execution excluded. Its public repository/release location, source license, and final supported-host and client list are still unfinished decisions. No public download is promised by this comparison.
Full is intended for Premium users, but its delivery mechanism is undecided. Neither edition should be described as open source before a license is chosen.
WyreDeck does not currently accept payments. Price, currency, paid-time duration, taxes, refunds, and purchase methods are not published. A one-time purchase of Premium time without automatic renewal is under consideration, not an available checkout. See the canonical Premium summary for current account and payment wording.
Tier inclusion and availability for future local AI, media-server adapters, multi-appliance support, DVR expansion, and later Stalker support remain undecided. No future tier assignment is implied here.
